What is Istighfar? | استغفار کیا ہے؟

English:

“Istighfar” means to sincerely seek forgiveness from Allah for one’s sins. It is not just saying “Astaghfirullah” by tongue, but feeling remorse in the heart and making the intention not to repeat the sin.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

> “Glad tidings for the one whose record is filled with abundant Istighfar.” (Ibn Majah)

"استغفار" کا مطلب ہے کہ انسان اپنے گناہوں کی سچی توبہ کے ساتھ اللہ سے معافی مانگے۔ یہ صرف زبان سے "استغفراللہ" کہنا نہیں، بلکہ دل سے شرمندگی محسوس کرنا اور آئندہ نہ کرنے کا پکا ارادہ ہے۔

رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا:

> "خوشخبری ہے اس شخص کے لیے جس کے اعمال نامے میں کثرت سے استغفار لکھا گیا ہو۔" (ابن ماجہ)

Istighfar and Rizq – Qur’an’s Promise | استغفار اور رزق – قرآن کا وعدہ

English:

In the Qur’an, Prophet Nuh (عليه السلام) said to his people:

> “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely, He is ever Forgiving. He will send down rain upon you in abundance, increase you in wealth and children, and provide you gardens and rivers.” (Surah Nuh 71:10-12)

قرآن میں حضرت نوح علیہ السلام نے اپنی قوم سے فرمایا:

ایک بزنس وومن نے روزانہ صبح سو بار "استغفراللہ" اور رات کو سو بار پڑھنا شروع کیا۔ شروع میں کوئی خاص فرق نہ آیا، لیکن دو مہینے بعد اس نے دیکھا کہ اس کے آرڈرز بڑھنے لگے، گھر میں سکون آیا اور قرضے اترنے لگے۔ یہی استغفار کی برکت ہے۔

Morning & Evening: 100 times each.

After Salah: 3 times.

Immediately after sin.
