✦ The Science Behind the Sunnah · Miswak Miswak: The 1400-Year-Old Sunnah Modern Dentistry Is Still Catching Up To By The Sukoon Seeker · Sabr and Sukoon · 7 min read In Short: The Prophet ﷺ used miswak before every prayer, over a thousand years before modern dentistry existed. Today, dental research confirms what the Sunnah already knew — miswak contains natural antibacterial compounds that meaningfully reduce plaque and support oral health. This post explores the hadith on miswak, what the science actually shows, and how to use it properly. Long before toothbrushes, fluoride, or dental clinics existed, one small stick from the Salvadora persica tree was already part of a daily hygiene routine practiced by the Prophet ﷺ, over and over, before every single prayer. What's remarkable is not just that this practice existed — it's that fourteen centuries later, modern laboratories have gone back and studied it, and found there was real substance behind it...

Time Management in Islam – Balancing Deen and Dunya

Introduction (English):

Time is one of the greatest blessings of Allah ﷻ. Every second that passes cannot return, and every moment is a trust (amanah) for which we will be accountable on the Day of Judgment. Islam beautifully teaches us to balance our spiritual responsibilities (Deen) with our worldly duties (Dunya). In today’s fast-paced world, learning how to manage time according to Islamic principles brings both barakah (blessing) and peace in life.

Main Article (English ~1000 words):

1. The Value of Time in the Qur’an

Allah ﷻ swears by time itself in the Qur’an:

> “By time, indeed, mankind is in loss. Except those who believe, do righteous deeds, and remind each other of truth and patience.”

(Surah Al-Asr 103:1-3) Quran.com

This shows that every moment wasted without faith and good deeds is a true loss.

2. The Prophet ﷺ on Time

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

> “Take advantage of five before five: your youth before old age, your health before sickness, your wealth before poverty, your free time before becoming busy, and your life before death.”

(Sunan Ibn Majah 4259) Sunnah.com

This Hadith highlights the urgency of using time wisely.

3. Balancing Deen and Dunya

Islam does not teach abandoning the world. Rather, it guides us to balance prayer, family, work, and society. The Prophet ﷺ said:

> “Your body has a right over you, your eyes have a right over you, your wife has a right over you, and your guest has a right over you.”

(Sahih Bukhari 5199)

This balance ensures neither religion nor worldly life is neglected.
