Parents in Islam hold the most honoured position in human relationships — second only to Allah Himself. This is not a cultural tradition. It is a divine command. Allah says in the Qur'an: "And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and that you be dutiful to your parents." — Surah Al-Isra (17:23) Notice the structure of this verse.
